                      ....Vesak  Festival...

        Vesak is a most important religious festival for Buddhists. It is celebrated to remember the birth, enlightenment and passing away of Gautama Buddha. It is celebrated in May every year on a Poya day. On Vesak day, people go to temples and offer flowers and light oil lamps. Houses and streets are decorated with Vesak koodu and colorful Pandals. People organize dansal to give free food and drinks to everyone. This shows kindness, generosity and sharing among people. Vesak is a special and meaningful festival for Buddhists.
